Improbable Progress...

Back to the Improbable...which is now indoors at Betts Boats. Being inside out of the weather is a huge boost to the pace of the work! And I've been able to get the help of the excellent team now & then of the Betts Boats team.

Jim Betts himself designed the new freshwater tanks, which the team then built of fiberglass and they're now bonded in. This is the port side tank, which will have the gimballed galley stove/oven mounted in front of the tank:

As we move forward in the boat, the old paint is removed, surfaces renewed as needed, and the beautiful laminated kauri wood frames/etc. are varnished:

Those frames/etc. are going to look great contrasted with the white surfaces behind them.

One of the many ongoing projects is beefing up the main bulkhead in front of the mast. It's one of the only areas in the structure that showed some movement, so we're making it bombproof:

Anyhow, the work continues...I'm in town till June 8, then back in Maine for a few weeks before getting back to the boat on July 5. While I'm away, the Betts Boats team chips away when there's time between the many other projects going on at the shop. There are several new builds underway, so there's competition...;-)

More news coming this summer!
