Westward bound (again)

Sorry for the sparse updates! The last couple trips out to Improbable were largely consumed by other important tasks...especially the process of moving my mom (Anitia Jimenez) from Hendersonville, NC out to The La Conner Retirement Inn. Located in La Conner, WA, of course.

Mom has done well for herself; she put herself through college (University of Washington) after us kids had wandered off, worked for IBM for around 15 years, took early retirement from IBM and then was successful as both a paralegal and a real estate agent. She carefully invested and bought/sold several houses over the years and now it's time for her to relax. She's starting to have some memory issues, so it's good for her to be at a place with other seniors with their own interesting stories to share.

Her big house in Hendersonville is getting sold, and moving to La Conner made the most sense as it's near where I'll be much of the time while finishing Improbable. Then the boat, Rosalea, and I will remain based out of the area for our racing & cruising adventures. Mom is still getting used to downsizing from the mansion in NC to a studio at the Retirement Inn! It was the only apartment available there, so she's first in line if/when one of the larger apartments becomes available. We've had to rent space in the basement garage of the Inn; mom has a hard time letting go of things (don't we all?) and it will take time (years?) to slowly sell or donate it all away...

In the meantime, I'm taking the long view towards Project Improbable...and have started setting up an RV to keep near the boat and facilitate putting in the long hours/days/months that are still required to finish the boat. Selling energy systems to RV outfitters is part of our OceanPlanet Energy business; not as much as we do on boats, however it's a growing part of the energy upgrade market. So, setting up the converted 2009 Econoline raised-roof RV with a nice 51V lithium system has been a good exercise.

The batteries, inverter, & solar controllers are in...solar panels coming soon!

Anyhow, I'll be back in Anacortes June 18th through mid-July. Have to keep getting mom settled in, but as always keeping the OPE biz going and pushing ahead on Project Improbable. For the latter, I have save up some $ (mostly by selling my house in Maine) to put into the boat...so I'll be placing bribes where needed/appropriate to get things moving faster!

Perhaps see you in Anacortes?
